Oligarchy

by David LaPlantz ·

An oligarchy is defined as a small group of people having control of a country or institution. With that in mind, do you think that the small group of individuals and corporate interests behind the black curtain qualify as an oligarchy? If the Oligarchy in Egypt and Libya can be pressured to depart, is there a chance for the USA citizens to rid ourselves of the oligarchy that runs our country?

What a difference their departure would make. Perhaps the USA might also move away from the two party system to a multi-party system that truly represented the citizens?

Precious, Compassionate Details

by David LaPlantz ·

“Have a heart,” was whispered. The connections between all of Earth’s living creations are firm and bond us all together as one. We all share in the responsibility of taking care of the Earth. May each of us daily take our full responsibility seriously and protect our singular home. We are all precious, as is our Earth, our only home.

“A” The Beginning Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

“A” the beginning and “Z” the conclusion. Where do we go from there? It’s all in the choice of words, position of the words and the voice’s inflection. Logical choice, care and a smile always make the difference.

Humanity Played Like Sheet Music

by David LaPlantz ·

Humanity has been played like (suckers) sour notes on a page of sheet music. The ego maniacs and money bullies have played us, by shrewdly catering to our fears and prejudices, telling us that certain people are bad, inferior, scary, whatever. So far it has worked well, we have allowed their sour notes to sour our best, most beautiful music. It’s time for the music to sound different and to be played by humanity, instead of humanity being played, like lousy notes on some crumby sheet music. Beware…….

Duke Ellington Created

by David LaPlantz ·

Duke Ellington said, “It makes no difference if it’s sweet or hot; Just give that rhythm ev’rything you got.” Wow, the world would be a different (empty) place had Duke Ellington not lived. Duke gave us beautiful music and made a real difference in all of our lives. What a great person he was and his contributions continue to enrich our ears. Thanks Duke……

Samoa Beach, Northern California, Rare Sun

by David LaPlantz ·

The wind in his mind blew the magic, memory book’s pages backward. The Northern California Samoa Beach, the blue Pacific wave energy, washing the shore with foam and wetness. Memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas packed lunches, cold drinks and their two dogs frolicking, oblivious of humans. The lovers communicated with eyes, smiles and touch. The weathered, tan driftwood log supported them as they ate, talked and laughed. Their feet illustrated images in the dry sand. The air smelled sweet and salty. Creation’s rare sun warmed. Now just a brilliant memory of in and outward tide, foam, energy and unlimited love. As Neil Sedaka said, “I miss the hungry years.” How true, how true…….

David Derby/Hat Tips?

by David LaPlantz ·

How often does the hat define? How often does the hat inspire? How often do we need both definition and inspiration? Maybe the hat will do the job, “When we’re in town?” Funny, I’ve heard that phrase somewhere before…….       “Later on…”       Hmmmmmmm.        Derby on!
