Samoa Beach, Northern California, Rare Sun
by David LaPlantz ·
The wind in his mind blew the magic, memory book’s pages backward. The Northern California Samoa Beach, the blue Pacific wave energy, washing the shore with foam and wetness. Memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas packed lunches, cold drinks and their two dogs frolicking, oblivious of humans. The lovers communicated with eyes, smiles and touch. The weathered, tan driftwood log supported them as they ate, talked and laughed. Their feet illustrated images in the dry sand. The air smelled sweet and salty. Creation’s rare sun warmed. Now just a brilliant memory of in and outward tide, foam, energy and unlimited love. As Neil Sedaka said, “I miss the hungry years.” How true, how true…….
