“Spermatic: Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

Life in all of its positive iterations just awaiting to be born. Why wait until it is too late? Make a date, set the date, peel and eat a grape. To all of my jazz loving friends out there. Here we go – Shiny and Matt, the two contrasts, Gemini Twins as seen in stereo tropic light. What????

“Pink-en-Stein” Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

Pink Dreams. Pink Fears. Pink Tears. An absolute Pink-en-Stein, if there ever was one. And to think, all one has to do to scare away the Pink Demons, is to say, “Boo!” Guess what? They all disappear when stared in the eye and the magical word “Boo,” is uttered. Try it…

“PoIntMeToLoVe” Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

As the reflections glistened and bounced off the smooth, static waters surface, the magical smiles from the love in the pink and white striped figure opened avenues to love that he had never experienced hitherto. The warm air and fresh, spring time aromas created a mood that is forever within the memories reach. Truly, a day dampened and dyed into the warp and weft of D’s definition of the decisive detour.

“RickyTickyAttitude” Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

The ticking of the old railroad, mail sorter’s pocket watch kept him awake on those long, boring nights as he organized the paper envelopes on their journey to a distant city. The clanking of the steel wheels against the uneven and bumpy rails were soothing to his soul. He missed his home in the Ohio farmlands, yet he could never say this to his family. 2 weeks on, 1 week off, what a way to exist. The distance he felt was further emphasized by the remoteness between he and his youngest son. Could or would this gap, as seen in time, space and emotion ever be bridged? He wondered… Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick…

“InBetweens” Brooch Set

by David LaPlantz ·

The working environment for a “creative” is crucial to the work and the final outcome. Sometimes David will play over and over a particular piece of music/album to summon the magical presence and energy of creativity. Two days ago, he was watching Martin Scorsese’s, No Direction Home, the rock & roll odyssey of Bob Dylan. The creative mood was set and these two magical wearables emerged very quickly & smoothly. Moods and settings are so crucial, like oxygen & water, fire and ice…

If the other twin “Shoe” dropped, would it resemble this? Or not? Yesterday, two semantic “Gemini” images emerged from David’s bench and now we see #2.

“DiscDeALinG” Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

In the “Big Sphere of LIFE,” threading the needle can be a challenge, especially if the two most important elements are lacking in their connection ability. Keeping a keen eye and hand/eye coordination is the key along with a measure of confidence & luck. Keep an eye out for the appropriate needle in the haystack!

“InBetween” Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

In between the white of light, we seem to be trapped in a maze that plays with the haze of life. The day’s dust barely settles before the next day’s dust begins to form. It’s hard to break away from the old and start the new. If we only knew the trick, the pathway to follow in order to transform the new from the old. The day’s dust holds all of the clues for change. All one has to do is look the dust straight in the eye and say, “Boo!”
