“OverTheRiVeR” Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

Surveying from the bridge over the river of love, one can see the rushing and raging water. The water flows with an intensity that is often overlooked in the throws of passion and the blindness that love often conveys through the vision that clouds our mind and senses. Over the river to someone’s house do we travel, either at Christmas or in love’s journey into the mystic.

“Pizza & R.Plant (LDZEP?)” Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

More “Petes and Re-Petes” cropping up all over David’s bench. Is this a conspiracy or epidemic of metal going mad or simply an optical illusion?

“One Out, 2 On Top” Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

In designing David’s wearable art jewelry, he likes the simple removal and duplication that allows for the the “pete and re-pete design opportunity.” It is amazing how simple the process can be to create and tell a story. The Leader of the “Threes” still has the moxie to lead his pals to question and act with confidence against the stupidity of the “Old Ways.” Simply plodding forth using the tattered and tired out “old scripts” no longer works. Why not look at your actions and then act with the “now” solutions and options for living a fuller life?

FroM RougH SketcH 2 FruiTioN, “(CrEaTive) Lights OUT” and “Woof” Brooches

by David LaPlantz ·

As seen earlier, the two rough sketches come to fruition. It is rather exciting to find an idea that suits David’s fancy and then to be able to realize it, to his satisfaction. Ideas, like we all know are one thing. But, when we try to realize them, the ideas sometimes never live up to the initial, mind preview and paper sketch. This time he was fortunate in the final outcome. Life, creativity and the work often play miracles like the angel’s harps…

“Umbrella Love” Brooch

by David LaPlantz ·

The umbrella, when opened, catches rain or protects from the rain. The umbrella also keeps the sun at bay and attracts lovers who may bring a smile. Remember the ad campaign, “When it rains, it pours!” Now that is pouring salt upon a wound.

“Woof” Idea Catches Fire

by David LaPlantz ·

Original idea for “Woof” Brooch. From quick idea flash to paper and then realized in metal. The “Woof” came as a flash and to fruition quite rapidly. Some days the art flows like a runny nose with allergies. Grab those tissues and the jeweler’s saw frame fast!

“Threes Detail” Brooches

by David LaPlantz ·

David believes in “detail” and “in details.” It is in the details, that some sense of human sanity can be preserved & perpetuated. As images flow in the creative imagination, one can discern a pattern of “connected details” that bring a sense of magic & richness to the 3-D plane of life’s geometry. Seek, examine and drink in the rich ghosts that populate our eyes’ colorful panorama. More to follow, imagery wise…
